It's Sunday night and I should be at Newport celebrating Edinburgh's away
win but instead, I'm sitting in front of the tv with a bag of frozen peas
on my ankle.
We were against Newport on Friday, I won my first two races then got a reserve
replacement ride in heat 7 when Newport put Phil Morris on a tactical ride.
Phil led the race and I knew I was faster than him as I chased. I got close
enough to pass him but as I followed him into the 3rd bend he locked up so
I turned my bike even harder to avoid running into the back of him. My bike
spun right around then Tony Atkin was unable to avoid me and I went down.
I injured my right ankle and although it was really uncomfortable I decided
to keep riding and was able to win my last two races.
On Saturday morning my ankle was worse and a trip to the hospital revealed
that it was only ligament damage. The swelling has now gone down a bit and
I'm planning to get some physio during the week which should speed up the
recovery.
We are at Redcar this Thursday, but I'm going to wait until later in the
week to see how I feel before deciding if I'm going to ride or
not.
Just like to say a quick thanks to Kieran who has been helping me out in
the pits.
