A NEW YEAR AND A NEW SEASON...

14 February 2008

Firstly, happy new year to everybody. I know it's late but it's nice to be nice.

So what can we expect this season?

Well, I think it's definitely going to be highly competitive, following the points changes made in the closed season. The premier league looks like it'll be the most competitive it's been in a while and the difference between winners and the rest could be just a few points, so every one of them is gonna count.

I'm ready for the challenge and really think this is my year to shine, particularly in the British U-21 championship. I'll be 21 years old in a few weeks so 2008 is my final crack at the title. Second place last year was good, but anything less than the outright title this year will, frankly, be a big personal disappointment. The British title is my target. Then it's onto the World's again…… hey, who knows?

I was happy with my performance in the latter part of 2007 with Wolverhampton and hope to continue the forward momentum when the season finally gets underway with Edinburgh. I really enjoyed the experience of racing in the Elite league against some of the worlds very best riders, and occasionally beating them. I also learnt some valuable lessons from my World U-21 semi final in Denmark too.

Ultimately, if my bikes and engines work well, then I'm confident I can give the Edinburgh Monarchs crowd something to really cheer about. I hope so. However, it's not only down to me to prepare my equipment as best I can, but also to keep up with new technology. This is very much a learning curve but, at least this year, I'm someway up that continuous learning curve.

To help me with the costs and expense of this, I'm currently spending as much time as possible trying to find additional new sponsorship. One of my current sponsors is helping me with this and although I don't like asking people for money, I do understand that they also get enjoyment and satisfaction from watching me race well. So…. If there's anybody else out there who'd like to help my career keep going forward, then sponsorship is the way to do it. Please feel free to contact me through my website. Any help is very much appreciated and will really help my racing by allowing me to order parts without having to raid my (very small) piggy bank every week.

I'm going to make a determined effort to stay positive and race ready and, fingers crossed, get off to a real flyer when the tapes finally go up. I can't wait to go racing again.

Thanks for reading and please keep checking back regularly for updates, new photo's, and hopefully, some videos (once I've figured out how to use a computer properly!!).

Best Wishes

William
